Huck Invades the Conch Republic

Please join Darrell Huckaby and his lovely wife, Lisa, along with World’s Greatest Bus Driver, Shane Clayton, of Daniel’s Charters, for a grand Florida vacation—and we really mean grand. You will see all the sights, stay in the best places and, it goes without saying, eat the best local food—during one of the best times of the year to visit the Sunshine State.

Check out our itinerary below:

Sunday, Oct. 16 We will depart Conyers at 11 am and Athens at noon (giving you plenty of time to attend early church and grab a little something to eat) and head for Savannah, Georgia’s colonial capitol. We will check into our rooms at the Hampton Inn on Bay Street, just a few short steps from Historic River Street and the Savannah River—and have time to wander around or relax a bit before our first night’s meal at the Pirate House, Georgia’s oldest restaurant.

Monday, Oct. 17 After enjoying breakfast at our hotel we will head south on I-95, destination, St. Augustine, America’s oldest city. Arriving by noon you will have time to grab lunch on your own while exploring the country’s first jail and oldest school house, before visiting the Fountain of Youth and the 16th century Spanish Fort the Castle de Lion. We will stay at the luxurious Hilton Bay Front hotel and enjoy dinner at Saltwater Cowboys, one of the areas most iconic restaurants.

Tuesday, Oct. 18 Today we’ll have it all, just like Bogey and Bacall, as our deluxe motor coach brings us to Key Largo, where we will visit John A. Penechamp State Park and see the African Queen from the movie of the same name starring Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn. Lunch is included as we stop for a picnic at one of Florida’s beautiful wayside parks. We will have time to enjoy the beach after we check into our hotel, the Hampton Inn Kay Largo Oceanfront. As always with Huck’s Tours we will have a scrumptious dinner with a local flavor.

Wednesday, Oct. 19 On this day we will enjoy a spectacular drive across one of the most scenic highways in America. We will cross the 7 Mile Bridge and see sparkling blue water on either side of the bus. Upon arrival in Key West we will go directly to the Southernmost Point in the United States for a photo-op to celebrate our arrival and then check into our luxurious hotel, the Casa Royale by Waldorf Astoria.

The afternoon is yours for strolling along Duvall Street. You can shop to your hearts content; have a fish sandwich at Sloppy Joe’s or a cheeseburger in paradise at Jimmy Buffett’s Margartitaville or explore one of the dozens of other places in Old Key West. Dinner is at the marina.

Thursday, October 20 After a great breakfast we will spend the morning hitting the highlights of the island, visiting the Truman White House, the Ernest Hemingway Home and the Butterfly Pavilion. The afternoon is free for lunch on your own and exploring to your heart’s content. Everyone will have unlimited access to the Old Town Trolley which makes 14 stops around the historic city. Dinner will be at the hotel.

Friday, Oct. 21 We will have breakfast at the hotel and then check out and load our bags, but the Key West adventure is not over. We will have until 2 pm to visit the shops and clubs on Duval Street and have one more great lunch on your own before loading up and driving back across the keys—destination Miami. We will have dinner and spend the night at the Country Inn and Suites, Kendall, Gateway to the Everglades.

Saturday, Oct. 22 This morning we will drive through Everglades National Park to Florida City where we will take an exciting airboat ride and visit a few alligators, up close and personal. Then, after lunch, it is on to Orlando where we will stay at the Wyndham Garden Lakes at Disney Springs. The late afternoon and evening will be free for exploring the shops and restaurants at Disney Springs (formerly Disney Village).

Sunday, Oct. 23 After breakfast at the Rain Forest Café, we will head for home, with lunch en route.

This is guaranteed to be one of the most fun and most relaxing trips Huck’s Tours has ever offered. Please join us and don’t miss out!
